Day 6: Standing Bow Pulling Pose #yogadebbychallenge
/Day 6 of the backbend challenge is Standing Bow Pulling Pose. Like Bow Pose, from yesterday, Standing Bow strengthens the entire spine and stretches the front side of the body. In addition to the spinal compression you also, create a spine twist and, when you bring your torso parallel to the floor, you irrigate your circulatory system; getting the blood to move from one side of the body to the other.
Imagine your legs as the bow and your torso your arrow. You must kick your top let up and back to get the 'bow' taut to allow you to shoot your 'arrow' forward to hit your target of balance. In other words, you must stretch and kick equally to maintain the pose.
Want to change it up a little for our challenge? Do Dancer Pose. Grab a strap, if you need it and put it around your foot. Holding strap with both hands kick back and up but keep your upper body lifted instead of dropping it down. Keep your arms behind your ears to allow your shoulders up open up.
Don't force your your posture and make sure you are warmed up before trying this or any pose. Post your picture to @Debby Nachmann Yoga on Facebook and use #yogadebbychallenge.
